SMS Opt-In: How Customers Agree to Texts
TruReceptionist is a service of Trusatec, operated by Jeffrey M. Trusa. Customers of barbershops, salons and similar businesses that use TruReceptionist can choose to get one text confirming the appointment they just booked and one reminder text the day before it. We send appointment confirmations and reminders only, never marketing. We do not text shop owners or staff; they get booking notices by email.
Customers can opt in two ways. Each yes or no is saved with the date, time, phone number and the exact wording shown or read to the customer.
1. Online: checkbox on the booking page
Customers book online at the shop's TruReceptionist booking page. To try it, open our demo shop: trusatec.com/book/atlantis-nail-salon. Pick a service, a day and a time, and the last step shows the form below. The checkbox is not checked by default, and booking works without it.
The same consent step, as it appears on the booking page (copy for review; it does not book or send anything):
Checkbox wording, word for word:
"Text me a confirmation of this appointment and a reminder the day before, from Trusatec. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Not required to book. See our Terms and Privacy Policy."
"Terms" and "Privacy Policy" link to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. A text is sent only if the customer checks the box, and only to the mobile number they typed in.
2. By phone: spoken question at the end of the call
Customers call the shop and our AI receptionist answers. The customer always places the call. After the appointment is booked, the receptionist asks out loud:
"Would you like a text confirmation from Trusatec, and a reminder the day before? Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. Please say yes or no."
- If the caller says "yes," one confirmation text is sent to the number they called from, and one reminder text the day before the appointment.
- If the caller says "no," the receptionist says "You're all set! No text will be sent," and no text is sent.
- The appointment is booked either way. Agreeing to texts is never required.
You can hear it yourself by calling our demo line at (570) 609-2779 and booking a pretend appointment.
The messages customers receive
Right after booking:
Trusatec: Hi Marcus! Your Haircut with Andre is confirmed for Friday, October 24 at 3:00 PM. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help.
The day before the appointment (sent between 9 AM and 8 PM, once per appointment; not sent for appointments booked less than 12 hours ahead):
Trusatec: Hi Maria! Reminder: your Gel Manicure with Lisa at Atlantis Nail Salon is tomorrow at 3:00 PM. Need to change it? Call the shop. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help.
That is at most two texts per appointment.
Opting out and getting help
- Reply STOP to unsubscribe. You will get one message confirming it, then no more texts.
